Submission of Application

  1. Applicant fill application form within a time frame of six months from the time of surgery and submit same to TOWF at Level 5, The Celicourt Building, Sir Celicourt Antelme Street, Port Louis with the following documents (original and 1 copy):-
    1. Taxi Operator ID Card
    2. ID card of third party if applying on behalf of the taxi operator
    3. Registration Certificate of taxi operator
    4. PSVL of taxi operator
    5. Medical from National Hospitals or Registered Clinic stating that the taxi operator will not be fit for duty for at least 15 continuous days.
    6. Bank A/c Number of taxi operator

Verification of Application

  1. The Desk Officer of TOWF will verify the Application Form together with the originals and copies of documents submitted and will certify the copies submitted as true copy of the originals.
  2. The TOWF officer returns the originals to the applicant and submit the application form and the copies for processing.

Processing of Application

  1. The processing unit verifies the eligibility of the application against the following:-
    1. The taxi operator has a valid PSVL
    2. The taxi operator is compliant with the TOWF
    3. The taxi operator presented a medical certificate from a National Hospital or a Clinic registered with the Ministry of Health and Wellness certifying that the taxi operator will be unfit for duty for at least 15 continuous days
  2. If the above criteria are met, the application form is marked as “eligible”. Else, the application form is marked as “NOT eligible”.  In case of clarifications, the processing team to contact the applicant.
  3. The amount to be paid to the taxi operators to be calculated as follows:-
    1. Daily subsistence of Rs 389 up to a limit of Rs 12,075 per month for a maximum of 3 months.
    2. For any 31 continuous days, an amount of Rs 12,075 will be paid
    3. Where the medical certificate (MC) specifies the number of unfit days, the amount payable is calculated as: Rs.389 * number of unfit days.
    4. The minimum amount that can be paid is Rs 5,835 and the maximum amount is Rs 36,225.
